COVID-19 Winter Grants (Derbyshire County Council)
The Government has set aside a £170m winter COVID-19 fund for children, families and individuals during the ongoing pandemic.
These grants to councils, (which are in addition to other forms of support), are intended to help pay for food, utility bills and other essentials during the winter months for the most vulnerable people. Derbyshire has been allocated over £2m from the Government. The scheme is overseen by our colleagues at Derbyshire County Council.
The COVID winter grant voucher to cover December/January has been issued. 25,576 eligible families in Derbyshire received a voucher. Families then have 30 days to activate the voucher (by selecting their chosen supermarket) once the supermarket is selected they have up to a year (or longer depending on the supermarket chosen) to spend the active voucher in store.
Vouchers will be sent between the 8 February and 19 February for the February/March period; people do not need to contact us unless they haven’t heard from the scheme by 20 February.
More information is available on the Derbyshire County Council website.
