Music in the Park calendar
Our live music programme is back for 2024 at the Bandstand on Maurice Lea Memorial Park, Church Gresley.
With the beautiful backdrop of the award-winning park, you will be able to enjoy four great events at the Bandstand, as the Music in the Park summer programme roars into action.
People of all ages are invited to bring picnics, rugs, and chairs to enjoy some live music at its best. There will also be additional attractions to enjoy at each event.
The dates for our Music in the Park 2024 events are as follows:
Wednesday 24 July – Get Involved – Soul Funk Junkies
Join us on Maurice Lea Memorial Park for the first instalment of Music in the Park. The Soul Funk Junkies, a Derbyshire based five-piece band, will be playing funk, soul, and dance music.
Sunday 28 July – Music and Plants – Stargazy
Are you ready to get dancing?
Stargazy will be performing at the second Music in the Park event. The five-piece folk band are from South Derbyshire, Playing traditional folk songs and tunes with contemporary twists. There will be a dance caller for part of the event for those who would like to join in.
Wednesday 7 August – Wacky Wednesday - Kitten Pyramid
Kitten Pyramid are a band from Burton with Swaddies in their midst. Their music is described as everything from prog to psych pop with sometimes surreal lyrics that hint towards super furry animals. Scott Milligan’s ever-shifting project has toured psychiatric wards, released short films and album Kiddo, and in 2013 played a family friendly gig at Burton Library as part of Burton Music Collectives November Month.
Sunday 11 August – Proms in the Park - Oddfellows Brass Band
Celebrate Proms in the Park with the traditional brass band Oddfellows. A Leicestershire-based band that has played across the length and breadth of Britain, sometimes further afield, with a varied repertoire. They are all about making music, having fun, and making friends.
