Festive Market

Saturday 10 December will see a bustling Festive Market in the town centre, part of Swadlincote’s celebrations leading up to Christmas.

Perfect for placing those last-minute orders for fresh fruit and vegetables from Pollards, KCD are number one for poultry and meats to complement those golden roasties and sprouts (last orders by 11th December please)!

Your pets and feathered friends can also celebrate with a Christmas stocking of seeds, feeds and treats to shield against the falling temperatures, plus special baked pet treats.

Gift ideas will be aplenty with bath bombs, wax melts, Xmas boxes, Body Shop favourites, sweets, cakes, wine, cards, gifts and treats to choose from. And a pair of snuggly socks or a scarf will always keep the winter chills at bay.

Alongside the array of market stalls, between 10am-2pm there will be roving street entertainment, a free face painter and balloon modeller, Jack’s Hog Roast, mulled wine, music and free mince pies to put you in a festive mood – you may even spot a certain red-robed Christmas character and a reindeer to bring a happy Ho, Ho, Ho to the day!

Swadlincote Library are running a free drop-in Christmas tree decoration craft session for children between 10am-12 noon and you can still join in with Santa’s Passport Trail.

Collect your free Passport from the Visitor Information Centre on High Street and find Santa, who is hiding in 12 businesses around the town centre. Collect a stamp and, return your completed Passport to the Visitor Information Centre to claim a small prize and enter Santa’s big prize draw to win great prizes, such as a Nintendo Switch or gift hampers.

Our local shops are brimming with ideas and Antiques in the Street on Sunday 11 December will bring another opportunity to find those special gifts.

Churches Together and Gresley Colliery Brass Band will bring the Christmas spirit with them on Saturday 17 December, when they perform carols in the town centre from 11am-1pm alongside the traditional market.

Large or small, new or up-cycled it is always the thought that counts.  Many of the town centre business are facilitating charity drop-off points this year and if you are able to drop off a gift or donation it will always be welcomed.
