Educational science day heads to Rosliston

science day science day

The Environmental Education Project at Rosliston Forestry Centre is hosting a Science Discovery Day for all ages on Saturday, 7 May 2022.

The drop-in session will provide lots of opportunities to explore science and learn about the environment while having fun.

Budding scientists can visit between 11am and 3.00pm where they can get hands-on and have a go at some simple ‘kitchen table’ science experiments.

There will be a selection of guided walks to choose from: Fungal Foray - a beginner’s guide to foraging wild fungi and mushrooms with an expert guide; a natural dyes forage walk and workshop; and an expert-led forest bathing wellbeing walk.

Members of Rosliston Astronomy Group will also be there throughout the day with their telescopes and astronomy expertise to answer questions - helping visitors learn about telescopes, space and solar observing.

The event is suitable for all ages, admission is free although there is a small charge for parking and some of the additional activities.

Expert guided walks are individually priced at circa £10, and ARD Birds of Prey will be offering ‘hold a bird’ opportunities with their selection of birds of prey which include: owls, raptors, hawks and falcons. There is also a small additional charge for this activity.
