Statement from our Chief Executive

Dr Justin Ives, Chief Executive of South Derbyshire District Council, said:

“South Derbyshire District Council recognises the public interest surrounding this complex matter regarding the welfare of several dogs and puppies.

“The Council wants to reassure the community that we take this matter seriously and we have been working closely with other agencies to find the best resolution in the interests of the animals, while ensuring all our actions are proportionate and lawful.

“Yesterday (29 April) all the animals were taken into the care of our partners, we have not returned them to the property. Their welfare will continue to be of the utmost priority.”
