🗾Toyota City Delegation Visits South Derbyshire!

South Derbyshire District Council was delighted to welcome representatives from Toyota City Council, Japan, on Friday 11 September as part of the long-standing partnership between Derbyshire and Toyota City.

The visit formed part of an ongoing programme of international collaboration and cultural exchange that has existed for many years, following the establishment of Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK's vehicle plant at Burnaston.

The delegation included Misae, Director of the Diversity and Inclusion Division at Toyota City Council, and Jaehyun, Senior Staff of the Diversity and Inclusion Division.

During their visit, the delegates met with a range of organisations that play an important role in the Derbyshire-Toyota City partnership. The programme included visits to Burton & South Derbyshire College, Rosliston Forestry Centre, the National Forest Company and Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK.

The day began at Burton & South Derbyshire College, where discussions focused on international engagement, education and opportunities for future collaboration. The delegates then visited Rosliston Forestry Centre for lunch with representatives from the Council.

While at Rosliston, the visitors also learned about the Environmental Education Project, which provides opportunities for people of all ages to engage with the natural environment and develop sustainable practices.

The delegation then travelled to the National Forest Company's headquarters at Conkers, where they explored the environmental regeneration successes of the National Forest and discussed shared interests in sustainability and community engagement.

The final visit of the day was to Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK at Burnaston, where the delegates were able to see first-hand the continued importance of Toyota's investment in the region and its contribution to the local economy.

The visit highlighted the strong and enduring relationship between South Derbyshire and Toyota City, promoting friendship, cultural understanding and opportunities for future collaboration in education, inclusion, environmental projects and economic development.

South Derbyshire District Council looks forward to continuing to develop these valuable international links for the benefit of local communities and future generations.
