Upskilling for Automotive, Construction and Trades Businesses

South Derbyshire District Council is working with Burton & South Derbyshire College to offer businesses free green skills training for their employees.

The aim is to help you upskill, adopt greener technologies and grow your business with confidence. Whether you're in automotive, construction or a trade profession, the green skills training is designed to future-proof your business and empower your team.

Specialist training is being offered in:

  • Hybrid & Electric Vehicles (EV)
  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
  • Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technologies
  • Solar Photovoltaic Systems
  • Electrical Energy Storage Systems

Developed with employers, the courses are tailored for experienced technicians, electricians and plumbers looking to enhance their skills. View the flyer here (pdf, 1.1mb).

Participants must be a resident of South Derbyshire District or work for a business located in South Derbyshire, be aged 18 or over, and be appropriately qualified or have equivalent industry experience relevant to the course.

This project is funded by the East Midlands Combined County Authority and the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is providing £25.17 million of funding for local investment across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in 2025/26. This funding distributed by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA), aims to boost pride in place and increase life chances in the region.
