Lamplight: Stories from South Derbyshire's Mining past Audio Trail

South Derbyshire Mining Preservation Group and Mel Biggs, Folk Musican, have collaborated on this exciting audio heritage project .

'Lamplight' is unique and significant to this area, preserving memories and leaving a lasting legacy.

Launched at 'Derbyshire Makes' Festival in Swadlincote on 25th April 2026, it is an audio trail taking you on a tour of mining-significant sites in Swadlincote.

 

Pick up a trail map at Sharpe's, and you can scan a QR code on your phone to hear about the locations along the trail.

It starts with the GlazeRoom in Shjarpe's Pottery Museum.

Heat snippets from local people who remember the mining industry.

There are 9 locations on  the trail with a diffierent listening and learning expereince at each point

These include Gresley Old Hall, Owd Shoddy Memorial in Eureka Park.
