Swadlincote Christmas Lights

The launch of the 2019 festive season in Swadlincote commenced with the switching on of the town’s Christmas Lights on Friday 20 November.

The town was filled with the sounds of local school choirs singing carols and Christmas songs on the Delph stage throughout the day.  The town’s market was bustling with traders and Santa arrived with his Rotary sleigh to the delight of old and young alike.

The evening’s entertainment brought performances from local bands The Dark Horses and The Foster Brothers, both new acts to our stage, along with Switch On ‘regulars’ April Davies and Mitch Corner.

The much loved firework display saw some changes too, with the introduction of ‘quiet’ fireworks to help reduce the stress to people attending the event and local resident’s pets.  The move proved to be appreciated, with some lovely comments posted on social media streams to support the change.”
