Swadlincote Proms in the Park
Our popular ‘Last Night of the Proms’ concert is relocating to Maurice Lea Memorial Park, Church Gresley and, even better – it's free to attend.
A perfect way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon, the bandstand will come alive at 3pm with Dixieland Jazz style music from Eureka Jazz Band, at 4.30pm Andy B. Goode will croon all your favourite Rat Pack and Swing numbers, at 6pm Newhall Brass Band will take to the stage with well-known pieces by John Williams amongst others, closing around 8pm with the traditional Proms sing-a-long favourites.
Relax and bring a picnic or why not treat yourself to an afternoon tea?
Lil’s Parlour will be there with tea, scones and cake to purchase, or to make your day extra special they can provide a full afternoon tea. Bookings need to be made in advance, so just click on the link and let Lil’s Parlour do all of the work. Orders should be made by Thursday, August 16.
Afternoon Tea - Selection of sandwiches, scone with jam and clotted cream, carrot cake, a macaron, tea or coffee £9.50pp.
Cream Tea - Scone with jam and clotted cream, fresh English strawberries, tea or coffee £4.50pp.
Or you could complement your picnic with a scrumptious ice cream from the Carlicious Ice Cream Trike, or toast the night away with a glass of prosecco from their Horse Box Prosecco Bar.
From 2.30pm until 5.30pm Alpine Arty Attic will be running craft activities for children and face painters will be bringing a sprinkling of glitter to the event (charges apply).
- Dress for the weather - sun hats and sun lotion are a must, but remember it can get chilly in the evening
- Free parking is available on Gresley Common
- Please do not bring disposable or gas barbeques
- Gazebo-style tents, awnings or canopies or any items which may obscure other patrons’ views are not permitted
- Don't forget to bring your flags!
