Consultation opens on South Derbyshire’s Local Plan Part 2
Residents and businesses across South Derbyshire are being invited to have their say on the latest stage of the Council's Local Plan Review, with a six-week consultation opening on Monday 19 October 2026.
South Derbyshire District Council is reviewing its adopted Local Plan. The Local Plan Part 1 Review which contains strategic policies and allocations has been submitted to the Secretary of State for Examination.
The Council is now consulting on the Publication Version of the Local Plan Part 2 Review. The Local Plan Part 2 Review will sit alongside the Local Plan Part 1 Review and contains non-strategic policies and allocations against which future planning applications will be determined.
The consultation will run from Monday 19 October until 5pm on Monday 30 November 2026, giving residents, businesses and other interested parties an opportunity to review the proposals and submit their comments.
This is a formal stage of plan preparation as required by Regulation 19 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. All representations received at this stage will be considered by an independent Planning Inspector as part of the Examination in Public of the Local Plan. Any changes to the Plan after this point will need to be made through the Examination process via recommendations from the Inspector.
At this stage, representations should only be made on legal compliance and soundness of the Plan, that is: has the plan been prepared in accordance with all legal and procedural requirements; and does the plan meet the prescribed tests of soundness set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.
Come along to a consultation drop-in event
To help residents understand the proposals and how to respond, the Council is holding a series of drop-in sessions across South Derbyshire.
Visitors will be able to view the consultation documents, speak to Council Officers about the proposals and collect a paper response form if required.
