Pre Submission Local Plan Part 2 Review

South Derbyshire District Council is reviewing its adopted Local Plan. The Local Plan Part 1 Review which contains strategic policies and allocations has been submitted to the Secretary of State for Examination.

The South Derbyshire Local Plan Part 2 Review 2022-2042 (Publication Version) is being consulted upon between Monday 19th October to 5pm Monday 30th November 2026. The Local Plan Part 2 Review contains non strategic allocations and policies against which future planning applications will be determined. Once adopted the Local Plan Part 2 Review will sit alongside the Local Plan Part 1 Review.

This consultation is published in accordance with the 2024 National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), as set out in Annexe 8: Implementation, paragraph 8 of 2026 NPPF.

Representations at this stage should only be made on legal compliance and soundness of the Plan, that is: has the plan been prepared in accordance with all legal and procedural requirements; and does the plan meet the prescribed tests of soundness set out in the National Planning Policy Framework. Comments regarding soundness should be made in regard to the 2024 NPPF.

The representations received will be considered by an independent Planning Inspector at an Examination in Public (date to be set).

All comments will be made available to view on the South Derbyshire District Councils website when consultation has finished.
