Chair's Charity Bike Ride 2026

 

56 miles. 15 wards. One fantastic cause.

 

Our Chair, Cllr Alistair Tilley, completed his 56-mile cycle challenge through every ward in South Derbyshire on Sunday 6 September 2026, raising money for local charity Miles for smiles.

Take a look at some of the highlights from the day, including stops along the route, the team’s return to Swadlincote and interviews with Cllr Alistair Tilley and Marie Elkin, Trustee and Treasurer for Miles for Smiles.

Thanks to the incredible support the challenge has received, nearly £2,500 has now been raised including Gift Aid for the charity and the important work it does supporting children and families in our community.

Cllr Tilley said:

“Just a huge thank you to all SDDC officers and staff for their help and time putting the project together.

“The amount raised shows that people care about this excellent local charity and the work that they do in our community.”
