The Residents Survey 2026 is your opportunity to provide your views on the way South Derbyshire District Council provides services to you either as a resident, business owner or frequent visitor to the District.

Currently the Council is part of a two-tier local government system in Derbyshire and does not deliver all public services in the District of South Derbyshire.  


Don’t forget! The District Council is responsible for services such as:

  • Waste collection and recycling
  • Street Cleansing including fly tipping
  • Council housing and landlord responsibilities
  • Parks and green spaces
  • Planning and enforcement
  • Environmental Health
  • Council Tax collection
  • Taxi licensing and business licensing
  • Managing our own budget and the allocation of resources
  • Communication and engagement with residents through different media platforms such as the website and social media
  • Development and management of town centres.

We are NOT responsible for:

  • Highways (road conditions such as potholes/roadworks)
  • Social services - adult social care, children’s services 
  • Schools
  • Public transport 
  • Policing
  • Health and ambulance services 
  • Fire Services.
